McEwen Mining presented a Case Study of its El Gallo Gold Mine in Mexico at the 2015 SME Annual Conference held in Denver, CO from February 15-18, 2015.
As part of the presentation, Nigel Fung, Director of Mine Planning for McEwen, presented results on mine operations innovations going forward, which included the monitoring of the primary crusher suing Scanimetrics' condition monitoring system. Chris Sellathamby, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Scanimetrics, answered questions about Scanimetrics' system following the presentation.
The monitoring system was installed in January 2015. After only one month of monitoring, Scanimetrics identified issues with the crusher foundation and recommended changes to reduce the stresses on the crusher, leading to increased uptime. A picture of the primary crusher is shown below:
