WiTAP™ Wireless Sensor Solutions
Long-lasting wireless sensors and monitors specially designed for mining and oil and gas industries.
Scanimetrics' wireless monitor and sensor products are packaged to survive extreme temperatures, harsh weather, and demanding operating conditions. We can provide reliable data on the condition of your equipment to help you optimize your maintenance program and maximize your equipment uptime.
General Description
The wireless monitoring system provides easy means of monitoring sensor data for Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) applications. Wireless data acquisition and transmission can be achieved by attaching most sensor types, including passive resistive sensors (such as strain, crack, load and temperature), active 4-20 mA sensors, and externally powered 0-5 V sensors, to the wireless sensor pods (referred to as “Motes”). With a master data capture unit connected to a portable computer, data can be downloaded and analyzed. The wireless sensor pods can be mounted either with spot welds to a surface or attached with epoxy. The sensor pod incorporates a battery, eliminating the need for an external power supply.
Once the sensor pod has been activated, it can be configured to provide years of continuous operation. The master data capture unit can be up to 10 m from the wireless sensor pods to receive the strain data being transmitted in normal, non-direct line of sight operating environments. The wireless sensor pods operate as a mesh network and can relay data between the master and units which are not directly reachable by the master. This enables sensor pods to be placed deep inside machinery and still be accessible by the master, and also to easily extend the communication range beyond 10 m by using repeaters or routers.
The system also enables sensor data to be wirelessly transmitted to a remote server via Scanimetrics’ Internet Gateway product, and operators to be kept informed by email, text message, voice message, or web update when critical parameters are outside their normal operating range.
