The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals recently released a new set of SMRP Standardized Metrics.

SMRP is a nonprofit organization that seeks to serve industry leaders and advance the equipment reliability and maintenance industry. In addition, the society provides companies and individual practitioners with best practices, including their recently revised SMRP Standardized Metrics.

The new standards include "best in class target values" for equipment reliability, which will provide industry professionals with valuable analytical information for asset management. The standards will also allow those in the maintenance and reliability industry to shed light on formulas, ratios, statistics, definitions and references to determine a performance benchmark.

"These metrics allow organizations to measurably improve their effectiveness within their respective fields," said SMRP chair Shon Isenhour. "We are proud to facilitate an industry tool that many companies can use to examine critical internal data that will further promote growth of our industry."

Also included in the SMRP release was a new search feature for e-Metrics called bundles, which allow workers to find essential Pillar 5 Work Management Metrics. With the system, metrics are separated into work identification, planning, scheduling, and backlog management. The arrangement also include resource management of people as well as materials.
