Dr. Lloyd Steier

Lloyd Steier, PhD, is a Professor of Strategic Management and Organization at the University of Alberta School of Business. He also holds a Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise and is the Academic Director of two Centres. Lloyd has researched and published in the areas of strategic management, new venture creation, venture capital governance, management education, and family business. He is the recipient of a number of teaching awards and was recently awarded with a Killam professorship for 2007/08 and a McCalla Professorship for 2008. He has also worked with numerous public and private sectors organizations in facilitator, speaker, consulting, and executive development roles.


Mark Brandemuehl

Mark Brandemuehl, VP Marketing & Business Development at Movoto LLC, has experience in internet marketing and business development with a deep background in semiconductor test and process semiconductor equipment, yield management software, EDA, and supply chain planning software. He is the former VP of marketing for Formfactor Inc. and has also held positions at KLA-Tencor as Director of Marketing and at Tyecin Systems as Director of Sales. Brandemuehl is experienced at developing marketing teams from scratch and growing successful new businesses. Brandemuehl has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.


Victor Lirette, QC.

Victor Lirette is a partner of Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP. He has served on the management committee of Reynolds, Mirth, Richards & Farmer for over ten years, including time as Chairman of the Management Committee.


Darcy Will

Darcy Will is President and CEO of Winners Gaming Inc., a private corporation that has owned and operated numerous gaming operations including bingos and casinos. Winners Gaming was the majority owner of the Boomtown Casino prior to its purchase by Gamehost Income Fund. In addition to extensive gaming experience, Will also has more than 17 years of knowledge of construction and commercial development, as well as being a former Director of Service Plus Hospitality.


Gord Winkel

Retired as a Vice President for Syncrude Ltd., Mr. Winkel joined the University of Alberta in 2010 as Chair and Industrial Professor for the Safety and Risk Management Program in the Faculty of Engineering. In his capacity he provides safety and risk management education to our final year engineering students and is working to make this a core competency for all engineering disciplines. Mr. Winkel has worked extensively in the oil sands industry. Mr. Winkel is supporting mining research and technology development in Canada as board member for both the Canadian Mining Innovation Council (CMIC) and the Canadian Oil Sands Network for Research and Technology (SMART), and chairs the J.T. Ryan Safety Committee for the Canadian Institute of Mining.
